Woodbine Farms offers horseback riding lessons in Chelsea, MI for all ages and all skill levels, from kids who have never been near a horse to adults who are ready to finally make riding part of their life. Our program is patient, progressive, and built around making riders feel confident and safe.
Located near Ann Arbor, we provide a safe, relaxed environment where riders can learn at their own pace.
Do You Need Your Own Horse?
Your First Lesson
It’s a calm, low-pressure introduction, and most students leave their first lesson already looking forward to the next one.
As You Progress
Lessons build from the ground up: grooming, tacking, basic horsemanship, riding fundamentals, and eventually more advanced skills for those who want them.
Students who want to pursue it can work toward participating in shows, with a hunter/ jumper foundation available for interested riders. There’s no pressure to compete.
Many of our riders are here purely for the enjoyment of it.
Lesson Options
- Private, semi-private, and group lessons available
- One hour per lesson
- Lesson horses provided
- Any age welcome, from young children to adults
- Lesson packages and monthly programs available
Policies
Lessons are available Monday through Friday. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance or the lesson fee applies.
We also have a viewing area for parents, though it is currently undergoing renovation.
A Note for Parents
If you’re bringing a child to riding lessons for the first time, here’s what they’ll experience: a warm welcome, a calm lesson horse, and an instructor who takes the time to make sure they feel comfortable every step of the way. Learning to groom and care for the horse is part of every lesson, which builds responsibility and confidence alongside riding skills.
